Splash Pads

The girls and I had a Friday playdate with a friend of mine and her daughter. It was a hot day and we decided to hang out at a splash pad. Growing up in Toronto as a child I remember hot summer days cooling off at a wading pool. Now that I have my kids and live in Mississauga, wading pools are out and Splash pads are in (at least in Mississauga).

The great thing about Splash Pads are you don't have any stagnant water, they don't require any
"supervision by a public worker (therefore you don't have to wait for a park staff person to open it), and the city and us tax payers save money (don't have to pay someone to supervise).

I NEED A TIME OUT

A side from loving being a Mom in Mississauga, I have my days. I start feeling like I need a time out when I wake up in the morning to whining and it rings in my ear all day. What's with the whining. Does it ever go away?

I received an email from someone I know and she mentioned that she's had to stay home for personal reasons. I quote the ending note of her email "although I am stepping out once in a while, to preserve my mental health!!!"

I know exactly what she means. My youngest has had a temperature on Sunday that lasted up until Wednesday. Along with being her Mom, I played nurse 24/7 for a total of 72 hours. I am still breastfeeding my 14 month old, and when a child who is not feeling well needs comfort they go to the boob. So I played milk maid for 24/7 for a total of 72 hours. Not that I'm prone to complaining (my husband may disagree) but when you have two children hanging off your body for 3 days, that's when you need a TIME OUT!!!!

You'll be happy to know that I'm out of jail today! You know that you need a time out when you start to feel like you're a prisoner in your own home! What shall I do today? Kids in tow!

When do you feel like you need a time out?

I will be organizing a weekend overnight retreat. For interested parties click here for more details.

From Big City Gal to Suburbia MOM

My husband and I have been living in Mississauga for 6 years. Having been born and raised in the "Big City" of Toronto have always had an aversion to the suburbs. I vowed that I would never live in the suburbs. Well, you know the saying "Never Say Never!"?

When we decided to purchase a home in Toronto we experienced a bidding war in the real estate market and thus decided that the suburbs weren't so bad after all.

Once we decided to go west, (that is west of Toronto) we discovered this hidden treasure. A little pocket by the lake that reminded us of cottage country. The area had no sidewalks, huge lots, mature trees and a lake. Once we moved we had no regrets. How can I complain about spacious
living and free parking?

Life without kids

As new residents of Mississauga, we enjoyed exploring and discovering new places. We frequented many restaurants, pubs, bar and grills and enjoyed experiencing what Mississauga has to offer in live entertainment. This was when we had the freedom to do so sans kids.

What's Life like in Mississauga with kids?
