Thanksgiving in Canada is celebrated on the second Monday of October. The first celebration of Thanksgiving in Canada was back in 1578. Martin Frobisher a British explorer who established a settlement in Canada, was the first to hold a formal ceremony to give thanks for surviving his exploration journey.
Living in Canada, there is much to give thanks for. We often lose site of how privileged we really are. I recently attended the performance of the African Children’s Choir at a Church in Mississauga. Am I ever grateful that I was able to see them and help support their efforts. These children from all over Africa have been given an opportunity to tour the world, raise money for the impoverished children of their countries and realize their dreams to become Doctors, Lawyers, Midwives, Journalists and Teachers.
It would be nice to teach our children from an early age to be grateful for what they have, as well as the importance of giving and not always receiving. Written by C. Joseph.
DON’T FORGET TO DONATE, THERE ARE FAMILIES THAT NEED IT! Non perishable foods can be donated to local Food banks or dropped off at most major grocery stores. If you are having difficulty making ends meet, please contact your local food bank, they may be able to help you.

For 364 days of the year most people tell their kids,“Don’t talk to or ever take candy from strangers!”
And then on Halloween we send them out to take candy
from every stranger they can find. Halloween can be
fun, exciting and a whole lot safer if you review
some Halloween safety tips and prepare a bit before
they go out:
For our little Trick-or-Treaters:
ü Go out with mom and dad.
ü When you are old enough (mom and dad will let you know when) go out with a group of friends.
ü Carry a flashlight.
ü Walk, don't run.
ü Stay on sidewalks, cross the road at corners.
ü Obey traffic signals.
ü Stay in familiar neighbourhoods.
ü Don't cut across yards or driveways.
ü Wear a watch you can read in the dark.
ü Make sure costumes don't drag on the ground.
ü Shoes should fit (even if they don't go with your costume).
ü Avoid wearing masks while walking from house to house.
ü Carry only flexible knives, swords or other props.
ü (If no sidewalk) walk on the left side of the road facing traffic.
ü Wear clothing with reflective markings or tape.
ü Approach only houses that are lit.
ü Stay away from and don't pet animals you don't know.

Beavers share many outdoor adventures with their friends in the colony. Nature walks, short hikes, tree plantings and family sleepovers give Beavers a taste of outdoor fun. Through these activities, Beavers develop an appreciation and a sense of caring for the environment.
Beavers are a vital part of the community, country and world in which they live. Visits to parks, power plants, fire and police stations thrill young Beavers and illustrate the many important facets of their community.
